Day 6 - Education

Good morning, how are you today?

The next vital thing is to develop our minds.

Investing in the whole us – body, mind and soul – is the best investment we can ever make.

Today's quote:
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
– Mahatma Gandhi

When it comes to money management I’m surprised that many people ignore this great way of investing in themselves. But only through learning can we grow. Education is actually one of my favourite accounts. 10% of our net salary should be spent on courses, books, and educational DVDs and CDs.

After all, we are our most valuable asset. Just think about this for a second: roughly how much of your yearly income is spent on education?

Now, let me stop here for a second. How many of us are in the habit of reading?

Reading exercises our brain, improves concentration, and develops imagination, and the list could go on.

I love almost everything that Paulo Coelho has written. His works have been translated into 80 languages, and he’s one of the best-selling writers in the world. Coelho’s style is direct and accessible, he provides advice people can relate to, meditate on, and follow at their own convenience. I remember that when I first got The Alchemist into my hand, I felt mesmerized. I’ve never read anything like that before. The Eleven Minutes is another great book of his that I would highly recommend.

Eric Berne’s Games People Play, and Csikszentmihalyi’s Flow are also must reads. I loved The Power of Now and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, and what Viktor Frankl created in Man’s Search for Meaning is also incredible. If you would like to read something lighter that still has a great message, then Daniel Keynes’ Flowers for Algernon is for you.

Any time I just want to get away from daily problems, I read one of Cecilia Ahern’s writings. I’m sure most of you have already heard of her most famous book called P.S. I Love You.

How about you? Do you have any favourite book that is a must read?

As we all know, there are two things that have a huge impact on our lives, the people we hang out with, and the books we read.

Apart from reading books, there are other great ways to enrich our minds, such as attending seminars, workshops, and conferences.

I also found Meetups very beneficial. Most of the time they are free of charge, and you can meet many like-minded people at those events.

I’ve never read so many books and other materials as I have in the last few years. Ever since I have started attending seminars, interesting courses and workshops, and met some amazing people along the way, I feel that my whole horizon has broadened, and I now see opportunities everywhere. Education is more than acquiring knowledge; it also empowers people to develop personally. We all need to make sure that we enrich our minds all the time, after all, once we stop learning, we start dying.

I hope you enjoyed this presentation and that you are ready to crack on with your task. See you tomorrow
